Cisco 5520 Wireless Controller

  1. Start the console session.

    Plug in ethernet cable with RS232 DB9-pin adapters to console port of device from PC COM1 port (for laptops use Digitech USB-A adapter as a COM port shown in Device Manager)
    Open PuTTY and select "Serial" connection type, change baud rate (Speed) to 115200 and leave other settings as default.
    Plug power into device and if a power button exists, turn it on.
  2. Erase configuration from Boot Options.

    Press the Esc key when prompted:

    At the Please enter your choice:  prompt type 5 followed by the Enter key:

    Further output will bring you to the Cisco Wizard Configuration Tool.
    When prompted to terminate autoinstall type yes followed by the Enter key twice:

    Do not continue, just unplug the console cable.
  3. Copy all the output from the session into your records.

    Right-click PuTTY's titlebar, from that dropdown menu click on "Copy All to Clipboard"
    Open the file of record certifying the deconfiguration of this device and use CTRL V to paste all the output from PuTTY into that file. Formatting the text with a fixed-width font helps it look more readable.
  4. End the session.

    Turn off/unplug the device and close PuTTy.
